Staying in cottages and lodges
After a long day out it may be nice to come into a warm cottage and enjoy a good supper. In tourist cottages you meet other walkers, skiers and fishermen. The atmosphere is informal and friendly. It’s easy to make new friends.
Most cottages are self-catering, but on the Norwegian side there are some that serve food. You normally sleep in bunk-beds and need to bring your own sheets or sleeping bag.
Some of the cottages are staffed but otherwise you must collect the key beforehand. Most tourist cottages are closed part of the year. You must find out in advance whether they are open. Remember that circumstances change, and the information below may no longer be valid.

Haugen: Staffed private farm with five cottages of varying sizes and standard. You can also rent Roastenhytta, Grøtådalssetra and Lillevonsjøbua.

Hävlingestugorna: Several cottages that can be booked in advance and a cabin that is open all year round. Dalarna County Administrative Board. Self-catering. There are also other cottages in Långfjället Nature Reserve. The cottages Våndsjöstugorna and Särsjöstugorna where priority is given to fishermen, and the Spångkojan cottage and a cottage by the river Töfsingån. Read more »
